“Slanina” (bacon) is an expression used in a defined geographical area for a product produced by thermal processing, salting and mincing the pork fatback in controlled conditions. This traditional specialty of the Međimurje cuisine is used as a spread or an addition to dishes, replacing regular fat and oils, and will give its characteristic spicy flavour to every meal.
