Our story

By carefully preserving traditional recipes and product quality, listening to the market and constantly investing in modernisation and the expansion of production capacity, we have grown, over the decades, from a small family business into one of the leading food companies in Croatia, and are now ranked among the largest meat industries in this part of Europe. Today, the Pivac Group's set up is a completely integral process that encompasses all segments of the business, from primary agricultural production to meat processing activities and even having its own retail chain.

The beginnings of the business
Our story begins in the hinterland of Dalmatia in the middle of the 20th century, when the first butcher's shop was opened in the small town of Vrgorac, which later gave rise to the Pivac Brothers Meat Industry, and then to today's Pivac Group.
80’s and 90’s
Sirenje i razvoj
Expansion and development
The business expands by opening butcher shops in Dalmatia, and later in the rest of Croatia. Cooperation with restaurateurs and hoteliers begins. We start our own livestock breeding on a farm in Pitomača.
2003.
Akvizicija
Acquisition of PPK plc
With the entry of the PPK Karlovac Meat Industry into the Pivac Group, we significantly expand our production and storage capacities.
2015.
Akvizicija Vajda
Acquisition of Vajda plc
With the Vajda Meat Industry joining us, we are dealing with a large project for the revitalization of pig breeding, by strengthening the cooperation system.
2017.
KARLOVACKI pogon
Investment cycle in the facilities in Karlovac
A new plant for the production of fresh meat is built. New machines are acquired for the production and packaging of processed products. A plant for the production of animal fats and pork crackling is put into operation, the largest in this part of Europe.
2019.
Čakovec Pogon
Modernisation of the Čakovec plant
One of the most modern facilities in Croatia and the region is opened for slaughtering livestock, with which we have created all the prerequisites for increasing primary production through our own breeding and cooperation.
2020.
Nova pršutana
The start of a new ham-curing plant
The largest prosciutto factory in Croatia and Southeast Europe opened in Ravča near Vrgorac, with an area of 10,500 m2 and a capacity of 4,500 tons. The Ravča II project begins – the construction of a new plant for cutting up and packing fresh meat, and for the production of semi-permanent products.

With the commissioning of a new facility with an area of ​​28,000 m² in the Industrial Zone of Ravča, all production and business processes of the Pivac Brothers Meat Industry have been fully amalgamated in one location.
